QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

FAQ: About writing

My writing has changed over time, why?

Writing is typical of the human being who faces both physical and psychological changes in the course of his life. Writing, a very refined means with which to express thoughts and emotions, reveals the deepest experiences. It is therefore not surprising that writing changes according to the psycho-physical variations of each individual.

I have bad writing but I can't do better, why?

Writing is never “bad”. The writing produced by any individual is the unique and unrepeatable expression of that particular subject, of his or her graphic-motor, intellectual and temperamental abilities. The slavish adherence to a calligraphic model, even though it may produce a “beautiful handwriting”, can imply, on the other hand, other types of issues, not necessarily attributable to a good psychophysical state. However, when a person does not feel at ease with his graphics, he can undertake, flanked by an expert figure, the path that can lead him to rediscover his authentic expressiveness.

I notice that in my writing there are frequent changes even on the same day, why?

Writing changes based on many factors, from climatic ones (with cold hands, for example, you write with more difficulty and the product is not as fluid as when you are in optimal conditions) to psychic ones (for example, if I am calm and quiet my writing will change from when I am nervous, angry or stressed).

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

FAQ: Teaching of writing

My son, when he does not behave well at school, is forced to write in the notebook the punishment he has been given dozens of times, is that right?

Using writing as a punitive tool is truly cruel. Handwriting is a vehicle that crosses all school subjects transversally and inducing the “punishment-writing” association in the child / young adult is not at all educational. Therefore, it should never be done.

My son's teacher tore up the page of his bad job, right?

Any written paper, regardless of quality, is the product of a human being who has left his mark on the paper. Tearing up the sheet means “erasing” this trace, because it does not live up to the demand. Isn’t it more educational to talk to the child about his work, to share with him the relative strengths of what he has produced, to encourage him to do better, confident that he will surely succeed?
The child whose notebook page is torn, almost always in front of the whole class, finds himself in great difficulty, feels diminished in front of his classmates, more insecure and devalued.

My child, at school, is forced to write the same word many times when it contains errors, right?

Writing the same word many times can be good for the graph-motor skills, if it follows the right path, in terms of inscription and progression of the movement; but, if the movements to write that word are not functional, they just reinforce themselves, creating deeper and deeper wrong behavior. Therefore, provided that writing a word so many times in an exact spelling is the right criterion for learning to spell it correctly forever, on the other hand it becomes very risky not to keep in mind the way (the writing movement) with which this word is repeatedly traced. on the sheet.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

FAQ: Difficulty of writing

The effort of writing can be overcome through a new education in the graphic gesture. How can you tell if your child needs help?

If your child struggles and / or experiences pain to write, has difficulty organizing their work on the notebook page, has poorly legible handwriting, writes slowly, etc., these are just some of the signs that legitimize a request for help.

What is a graph-motor assessment?

It is a meeting with the parents and the person concerned where, following a cognitive interview, the child’s drawings are examined from the earliest stages of learning and proceeds (without parents) to a series of exams / tests on global and fine motor skills, motor coordination, lateralization, writing, drawing and reading.
At the end of the assessment, if it is considered appropriate to undertake a path, it is important to make the child aware of the commitment he assumes and to establish the motivation and trust he feels he has in the environment and in the educator.

How long does a new education intervention last?

The new education path is personal and aimed at different subjects.
The responses to the treatment may vary and, therefore, the duration may vary but, personally, in my long experience, I believe it is necessary to make use of sufficient time to allow the consolidation of the various learnings. I consider that the school year is a reasonable time, although the sessions can start at any time, not necessarily in September, with the start of the school. At the end of the process, it is a good idea to monitor the situation for some time with sporadic control sessions.

My child hates to write, what can I do for him?

Writing is an activity that requires commitment and dedication. When a child / youngster hates writing, it can have many reasons and it is necessary to find out what they are. Often, the disaffection with respect to writing is due to the inability to know how to trace it without effort, to feel pain in the action, to feel dissatisfied with one’s work, or to the inability to know how to dilate the times and prefer the keyboard as a faster instrument, clear, orderly, “painless”, etc. Your child, on the other hand, must know that his writing is only that produced by his body and no other means can ever replace it. You can therefore advise him to face his reticence, approaching the world of writing with a professional figure who can help him.

My child feels pain and fatigue while writing, how can I help him?

Writing is a complex behavior, in relation to an adequate psychomotor development, which requires the use of the whole person in his entirety. Feeling pain and struggling is not normal when writing. Walking, for example, is not painful, unless you walk for many consecutive hours with the possible consequence of small muscle aches. Well, writing is the same thing too. If pain is felt (usually in the wrist), it means that my postural attitude, my grip and grip are not adequate. The reasons for the pain and consequent fatigue can also be attributable to a contracted posture and grip, due to internal tensions (discomfort, stress, anxiety).
Whenever pains occur in graphic production, it will be necessary provide physical-muscular relaxation exercises, which are always preparatory to a course of education in writing.

My child is messy and his notebooks are terrible, how can I help him?

When a child / teenager writes in a cluttered and incomprehensible way, there is always a reason. Even if this should correspond to negligence, it is, however, a reason to be considered and not criticized a priori. If your child has these characteristics, you need to find out what the reasons are. Your child may be very unable to organize his writings on the paper and this creates clutter. It is certainly not scolding him that it will improve his performance. If your child had a leg problem that prevented him from walking well, it wouldn’t be scolding him that would improve his walking. Probably, you would go to an expert for help him and they would certainly not (except for short periods) the crutch or wheelchair that would solve the problem, because you would like your child to be able to move with his legs, like everyone else. Well, when your child is advised to use the PC, this happens, as he is denied the possibility of producing behavior (such as that of walking) that he can and must implement, like everyone else.Your content goes here. What should I do if my child has writing problems?

You can look for a graphic gesture educator and request a graph-motor evaluation.

The educator is not yet recognized at the health level and you will not find this figure in institutions of this type. You will therefore need to seek out a writing educator privately or at affiliated learning disability centers, which, however, hardly ever make use of this resource.

Fortunately, today, there are many educators scattered throughout the country.
The AGI association (Italian graphologists association) and ANGRIS (national association graphologists re-educators of writing) of which I belong, have their own site on which you can find an expert near your home. Evaluations are carried out at the health authorities which are followed, in the case of dysgraphia, by certifications that often exempt the student from the use of cursive writing to the advantage of capital letters and PCs.

As supporters of handwriting, we believe this type of approach is not correct, as it does not address the problem but avoids it, not promoting the potential of the child in his growth process.

What does the re-education of writing consist of?

It consists of a 45/50 minute mono-weekly meeting and a daily exercise at home that re-proposes the graphic MOVEMENTS examined in the various meetings. Repeating the movements every day allows you to automate the correct and functional gesture, deconditioning the usual one.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

FAQ: Ecosistema Scriveròben

What is Scriveròben's Educational Ecosystem?

Scriveròben wants to act as a decisive point of reference for everything concerning the learning and teaching of handwriting and the correct acquisition of the graphic gesture.
In addition to the website that offers insights, blogs, free teaching materials, Scriveròben essentially consists of three complementary products, which can be integrated and aimed at teachers, parents and children.
The three products consist of:
1) Didactic manual for the learning of writing
2) A fairy tale of literacy to the graphic gesture
3) An online course with video lessons to learn how to write in cursive step by step.
In addition, notebooks with colored graphic areas are proposed to facilitate the correct understanding of graphic spatiality in children.

What is the difference between the Didactic Manual and the Online Course?

The Online Course was created with the intention of providing a visual guide (multiple shooting points were used, to facilitate understanding of the correct movements to be made to trace each letter) on learning printed and cursive writing.

The Didactic Manual is an operational book-notebook: children will have the opportunity to practice directly on the text, thanks to the numerous lines with colored graphic areas left at their disposal.

Together, the Online Course and the Scriveròben Didactic Manual are a very powerful ally for learning writing.

What is the Dynamic Method?

The Dynamic Method is an approach to teaching cursive writing that favors movement at the expense of form. To develop a healthy writing, rather than focusing on the shape of the letters, it is necessary to learn well the movement with which they must be traced and connected to each other! It is no coincidence that we speak of “graph-motility”: motility means “movement” and it is precisely on the discovery of the correct movements that the Dynamic Method is based.

Will the three products of the Scriveròben ecosystem have to be purchased at the same time to bring real benefits?

The Scriveròben ecosystem products have been created to respond to multiple needs in a complete and exhaustive way. Being conceived as part of the same path, we recommend the use of all three tools, with a view to a structured and immersive experience. The start of the path with any of the tools made available does not affect the use of the remaining ones, designed specifically to deepen more and more the issues dealt with and respond to the different needs and occasions of use.

The Didactic Manual

Is the Didactic Manual a theoretical text?

The Didactic Manual was written with the aim of being a practical guide, a perfect travel companion for adults and children in their respective processes of teaching and learning writing. It consists of a first part aimed at adults (teachers and parents), aimed at making educators aware of the importance of cursive writing and the movements that are its foundation; in the second part, on the other hand, dedicated to the youngest, all the letters of the alphabet are presented in the order dictated by the Dynamic Method. In this part of the manual, children will have the opportunity to practice directly and thus discover how easy – and fun! – learn to write in cursive.

Are foreign letters also explained in the manual?

Yes, the Manual includes all foreign letters (called, for children, the “Exotic Letters”) and the “Giants of Scriveròben” (capital letters in italics).

Why weren't two separate manuals printed, one for adults and one for children?

I have deliberately made the Teaching Manual a single tool of common use, for adults and children. The discovery of writing is a journey to be faced together: the child must receive the correct information in order to find the treasure of writing and experience this new discovery as a pleasure, and it is the adult’s responsibility to allow him to undertake this path with joy and serenity. Having the same reference text to “share” with the adult (teacher or parent) will help the child – and not only him! – to feel part of an important company, because the discovery of cursive writing is important!

What exactly does the Didactic Manual contain?

The Manual consists of 184 pages.
The first part, aimed at adults, is organized in 9 chapters, in which everything an educator needs to know about handwriting, its teaching and its difficulties is explained.

The second part presents, one by one, all the letters of the alphabet divided by movement families (as established by the Dynamic Method, which identifies 6).

Each letter is presented in detail, from its pre-writing to its complete constitution, highlighting the movement necessary to trace it correctly. All the letters of the alphabet are associated with the respective character letters of the Cin Cin fairy tale, in order to make the learning process more stimulating and fun for children.

Is the Teaching Manual completely in color or in bi-color?

I chose to create a manual that could be appealing to everyone. Printed books today have to compete for our attention (especially that of the little ones) with all other media, which, as we know, know much more captivating languages.

In order to give him all possible means to win in this competition, the Didactic Manual has been printed in full color in Premium quality.

Where can I buy the Didactic Manual?

You can buy it on Amazon or get it by purchasing one of the Scriveròben bundles!

The Fairy Tale Cin Cin

What is the Fiaba Cin Cin about?

The Fiaba Cin Cin is a story for children that tells of a journey to discover the signs that, varying in shape and direction, give life to the letters of our alphabet.

How long is the Fiaba Cin Cin?

The fairy tale consists of 84 pages, all in color!

Can I get the Fairy Tale Audiobook without purchasing the paper version?

Currently, access to the Audiobook is guaranteed only to those who are in possession of a hard copy of the Fiaba Cin Cin.

Where can I buy the Fiaba Cin Cin?

You can buy it on Amazon or get it by buying one of the Scriveròben bundles!

How can I integrate the Cin Cin Fairy Tale with the Didactic Manual or with the Scriveròben Online Course?

The fairy tale was written feeling “on the side of the children” and is the first, of the whole Scriveròben Ecosystem, to have seen the light. The characters of the story are all the letters of the alphabet and, thanks to the illustrations by Ilaria Lazzarotto, they are exactly the same ones that children will find presented in the Online Course and in the Scriveròben Educational Manual.

It will be nice to accompany your children or your students on their journey of discovery of cursive writing, connoting their path with an affective dimension, guaranteed precisely by the continuity of the letters of the alphabet with the characters of the fairy tale.

Does the Audiobook contain musical accompaniment or is it only "parlato% 22?

Thanks to the creative flair of the composer Angelo Marrone, I can guarantee that the Fiaba Cin Cin literally comes to life with the audiobook. The soundtrack is original and made specifically for each letter and their families.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

FAQ: Notebooks with colored graphic areas

What are the graphic zones?

The vertical dimension of the movement highlights the three areas of the writing, which are commonly called upper, lower and middle.

I prefer to associate them, with a suggestive metaphor, respectively to the blue sky, the brown earth and the green lawn, on which all the letters run happily.

Is it necessary to write with special pens on notebooks with colored graphic areas?

No! Any pen or pencil is fine! The tone of the colors was chosen precisely to ensure visibility of the writing instrument line.

Should the notebooks with colored graphic areas be used like any other notebook?

While it is perfectly possible to use notebooks with colored graphic zones as main notebooks, they have been designed and built to be a “free exercise” space for early learners and at the start of each new school year.

Why are the graphic areas colored?

At the beginning of learning, i Scriveròben color notebooks will make it easier for your children or pupils to distinguish and respect the three graphic areas of the writing. Tell them about the metaphor of blue sky, brown earth and green lawn: help them visualize how the letters move, taking off, sinking into the earth and running happily on the lawn!

How many pages do the notebooks with colored graphic areas contain?

The notebooks are all 40 pages long, following the numbering suggested by Amazon.
In practice, you will have 40 sides available. This number of pages was chosen as the ideal compromise for:

  • keep the price low (all pages are in color, printing costs are very high!);
  • reduce the weight of the single notebook for greater convenience of transport;
  • have enough pages for your kids to exercise.
Where can I buy the notebooks with colored graphic areas?
